What is Showpony?

Showpony B.V. has been providing its services to its clients with great pleasure since 2009.

Showpony is a People Agency for real, creative and outgoing people, with offices in Amsterdam, Eindhoven & Antwerp.

As a Showpony you work for the best-known brands and companies at events, brand activations, fashion shows, photo shoots, films and commercials.

We offer a platform for host(esses), models, dancers, acrobats and entertainers to search for and accept jobs via the Showpony Community. Showponies are deployed during festivals, presentations, club nights, fashion shows, photo shoots, commercials and other (corporate) events.

Showpony distinguishes itself completely by ensuring a higher quality of craftsmanship through selection upon admission to the community and then with training and matching on qualifications of the flex workers. In addition, we strictly select what kind of work we offer to our community, whether it fits their profile and whether the perception of these jobs is positive, which makes the motivation higher than with a traditional side job. We do not believe that money is the only motivation, so we focus on the other things that score high in the choice to work. Showpony has its own niche of companies and flex workers.

Platform

If you work through our platform, you are a Showpony and you work as a self-employed person or as a flex worker. With flex work, you work for yourself and you have the freedom to determine which jobs on our platform you respond to. So you only work when you want. Because you do Hosting, catering, modeling and entertainment jobs at different companies, it is super varied and you only do what suits you best.

What is the difference between Showpony and a temporary employment agency?

As a temporary worker, you are tied to a contract and you work as an employee. Through our platform, you are not tied to anything and you work as an independent entrepreneur.

How much work experience do I need to get started?

In general, it is nice if you already have some work experience before you start at Showpony. Based on your relevant experience, we add functions and qualifications to your profile. Based on these characteristics, you will or will not see certain jobs. For example, if you are a trained experienced dancer, you will see jobs that require this experience and if you do not have these qualifications, you will not see these jobs. This way you do not get too much spam and we ensure the best match between you and the assignment.

Haven’t got a lot of work experience yet? No stress. Training courses are increasingly being offered via our platform. This automatically qualifies you for certain functions and qualifications.

I am employed. Can I also work flexibly?

Yes, that is possible, although it may result that your income ends up in a higher tax bracket. Income from work is taxed via tax box 1. The Tax Authorities adds both gross incomes together. If your gross income increases, for example because you have become a flex worker, part of your income may be taxed in a higher tax bracket. How do I get enough work?

As a flex worker, you are responsible to apply  for jobs yourself. Our platform lists multiple jobs per week, so there is always something for you, which you can see in our app under OPEN JOBS. Are you available? Then click on the job you want and then on ‘I WANT THIS JOB’. The client will choose the flex worker who best suits the job. If you are selected, you will receive a notification and an email confirming this.

How do I increase my chances of being selected?

Often multiple flex workers respond to a job. The client determines who is the best fit for this job. Respond to multiple jobs on the same day*, to last-minute jobs and to jobs with few registrations. This way, the chance that you can get started is ‘greatest’.

*Can I respond to multiple jobs that take place at the same time?

Yep. Overlapping shifts will automatically expire if you are selected.

It is always smart to spread your chances and respond to multiple shifts. Are you accepted for a shift, but do you have other applications open for the same date and time? No worries. Overlapping shifts will automatically expire if you are selected.

 

​Please note: are there more than 59 minutes between shifts? Then you can be accepted for both shifts. This 59-minute rule does not apply to shifts for the same position and with the same client. Jobs at the same location can therefore simply be consecutive, unless a client has disabled the option for this.

Are travel expenses reimbursed?

For most jobs outside Amsterdam, travel expenses are reimbursed.

After completing your job, you can immediately adjust your hours and upload travel expenses in the Showpony App.

You are responsible for adjusting these hours yourself, if the times in the declaration do not match the hours you worked, you have 24 hours to do so.

After checking your hours, you can add the costs you incurred to the declaration. It is possible to add multiple files. This means that if you have incurred different costs, you can add them all.

Below, each step explains what you need to do to approve your declaration;

– Select the type of costs; Travel costs, parking costs, food costs

– State the amount of the costs you incurred

– Add proof of the costs you incurred

The following applies to travel costs, preparation time and travel hours; – With regard to preparation time/travel hours, these costs will only be reimbursed at a maximum of 50% of the hourly rate for the booking if this is indicated in the call/briefing

– Costs incurred include travel costs, parking costs and any food costs.

– We will only reimburse travel costs incurred by car or public transport if this is indicated in the call/briefing

– We will only accept travel costs or food vouchers incurred by you if you have valid proof of this. Without valid proof, we cannot reimburse the costs incurred by you.

– Travel by car is reimbursed for travel costs of €0.21 per km

– If you have traveled by car, we will only accept a print screen of the journey from Google Maps, clearly indicating the journey and the number of km

– If you have traveled by public transport, we will only accept a print screen of your public transport history or a photo of your train ticket clearly indicating the price

When will I get paid?

For each job you have the option to be paid within 3 or 5 working days for 2.9% of the invoice amount. Do you not want this? Then you wait until the client pays.

When will I get paid if I choose ‘wait for payment client’?

When the client pays your invoice, you will automatically be paid.

The payment of your invoices is made via the factoring company Finqle. The client pays Finqle and Finqle then pays you. If you choose the option ‘wait for payment client’, you will automatically be paid by Finqle when the client has paid the invoice.

​Payment term

Clients have 14 or 30 days* to pay the collective invoice. This depends on the payment term of the client. You can find the agreed payment term in your assignment agreement. Please note that the payment term starts from the moment the invoice is received by the client, and not from the date that you worked.

When do I get paid if I choose ‘immediate payment’?

Within 3 or 5 working days after approval on your checkout.

The payment of your invoices is made via the independent factoring company Finqle. The client pays Finqle and Finqle then pays you. With immediate payment, your money will be transferred to you within 3 or 5 working days (after approval of your hours and expenses). Your app will state whether it is 3 or 5 working days.

​Example: Your shift will be paid within 3 working days. Did you receive approval of your hours on Monday? Depending on your bank, the money will be in your account on Thursday or Friday.

What if I can't come to work?

Are you unable to come to work and has the cancellation period expired? Shit happens, but call us as soon as possible, and we will look for a solution together.

What taxes do I have to deal with as a flex worker?

As a flex worker, you are required to file sales tax (also called VAT return) and income tax. You file sales tax 4 times a year and income tax once a year. It is less scary than it seems, but if you have any doubts, you can always hire an accountant.

Sales tax (VAT return)

For every hour you work, you receive 21% VAT on top of your hourly rate. The client pays this to you. The hourly rates on our platform are without VAT. Every quarter, as an entrepreneur, you pay your received VAT to the Tax Authorities when filing sales tax.

Income tax

As a flex worker, you pay tax on your income — just like everyone else who earns money in the Netherlands. This is called income tax.

I have been hired by Showpony, what now?

Congratulations, you’re in! From now on, you can officially call yourself a Showpony and you are part of the community. First you have to complete a few more steps before you can get started:

you will receive an onboarding email from FLEKS. Follow the steps here and enter all requested information, add at least 5 clear and representative photos to your profile before you are eligible to accept jobs. In addition, you will receive an onboarding email from FINQLE, this company takes care of all payments and is directly linked to your showpony FLEKS account. Here you fill in all your personal and possibly company details, upload your ID and all your payment information. You also sign a contract that allows you to use Reverse-billing: your invoice is made for you. Through the collaboration with finqle you can also opt for fast payment, within 3 days. Once you have completed these onboardings you will also receive a login from the SHOWPONY HUB, the exclusive social platform for all showponies.
